After working for several other companies in various positions, Rich started his own company in 2004, Gold Coast Ironworks. GCI provides fabrication and installation services in the construction industry, for structural steel, miscellaneous metals and ornamental iron. A fair amount of the work is with stainless steel. Projects are primarily related to construction of new buildings, commercial and residential, but also include the marine, pharmaceutical, motion picture, and public works industries. These projects draw on his experience gained working inside the codes for ASME, ABS, AISC, AWS, UBC and City of Los Angeles Building Codes.
